Back in October 2015<\/a>, Adele soared to the top of the pop charts with the song \u201cHello,\u201d and then-Vice President Joe Biden confirmed he would not be running for president the following year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was also the last month that the hapless fast-attack submarine Boise<\/a> was out on patrol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boat was supposed to head into maintenance back then, but an unending backlog in availabilities meant the sub had to wait \u2026 and wait \u2026 and wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But in a bit of good news for Boise, Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Gilday<\/a> told lawmakers Thursday that the sub\u2019s long-awaited yard time is expected to begin this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boat will soon get space so the maintenance can begin, Gilday told the House Appropriations defense subcommittee Thursday during a hearing on the fiscal 2022 Navy and Marine Corps budgets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work will cost about $355 million and will be done at Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia, Navy Times\u2019 sister publication, Defense News<\/a>, reported last fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
