We want such weapons to be acquired by the Polish Armed Forces as soon as possible,\u201d B\u0142aszczak was quoted in a statement released by the Ministry of National Defence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Poland plans to procure new combat helos for the country\u2019s military under its Kruk (Raven) program, replacing the outdated, Soviet-designed Mil Mi-24 fleet. Warsaw is expected to buy about 32 new helos. The estimated value of the acquisition was not disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Polish defense officials said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/global\/europe\/2022\/03\/18\/czech-republic-weighs-upping-its-order-of-bell-made-venom-viper-helicopters\/\" target=\"_blank\">Boeing is offering the AH-64 Apache, while Bell is pitching its AH-1Z Viper<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other players who have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/global\/europe\/2021\/08\/31\/poland-readies-for-short-range-air-defense-deal-as-trade-show-approaches\/\" target=\"_blank\">expressed interest in supplying their aircraft<\/a> to Poland include Airbus and Leonardo. However, with Poland\u2019s military procurements over recent years visibly shifting toward direct purchases of American weapons, the two European groups were excluded on the Kruk program\u2019s shortlist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The latest development indicates Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/global\/europe\/2022\/04\/05\/poland-signs-475-billion-abrams-tank-deal-as-russias-war-speeds-procurements\/\" target=\"_blank\">accelerated Poland\u2019s plans<\/a> to acquire new helos. Last year, Deputy Defence Minister Wojciech Skurkiewicz said the ministry would need \u201cseveral years\u201d to select a new combat
