The company billed the XL-AUV as affordable, durable and capable of executing military and non-military missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere is a clear need for an XL-AUV built in Australia, for Australia,\u201d said Palmer Luckey, the Anduril founder. \u201cThe XL-AUV will harness the latest developments in autonomy, edge computing, sensor fusion, propulsion and robotics to bring advanced capability to the Royal Australian Navy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anduril announced an expansion into Australia this year. It plans to consult national experts and enterprises on the project and leverage the local supply chain. The company already works with the U.S. Defense Department, recently securing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/unmanned\/2022\/01\/24\/us-special-operations-command-picks-anduril-to-lead-counter-drone-integration-work-in-1b-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\">a $1 billion deal<\/a> with Special Operations Command, and the U.K. Defence Ministry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anduril on Feb. 2 announced its acquisition of Boston startup Dive Technologies, which specializes in autonomous underwater vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe world beneath the ocean is completely different than the one above it. It requires different types of sensors, modalities and problem-solving than the work we are doing in air, land and space,\u201d <a
