(U.S. Navy photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><a class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-prev swiper-button-prev swiper-button-white\" role=\"button\"><\/a><a class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-next swiper-button-next swiper-button-white\" role=\"button\"><\/a><a aria-label=\"Pause Slideshow\" class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_button-pause\" role=\"button\"><\/a><div class=\"wp-block-jetpack-slideshow_pagination swiper-pagination swiper-pagination-white\"><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ship is managed by the Naval Sea Systems Command\u2019s Carderock Division, but is funded by the<span class=\"js-paste-start-HRGVOK4F7VATRP227EA7MIH4FA\"> Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering\u2019s Rapid Reaction Technology Office.<span class=\"js-paste-end-HRGVOK4F7VATRP227EA7MIH4FA\"> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s available to test new technologies developed by both large and small businesses, as well as goverment and academic laboratories, Denko said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Denko said they facilitate, on average, about 60 new technology demonstrations each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur staff and crew are adept at assisting demonstrators adapting their products to the marine environment,\u201d Denko said. \u201cWe work to understand the technology and assist organizations in installing their products and technology onboard Stiletto to best demonstrate it to interested agencies, not just the Navy, but Coast Guard and Army as well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the best part is it\u2019s very affordable, he said, given that once a project is accepted for demonstration, all the developer pays for are their own travel and labor costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently, Stiletto hosted Savox, a company interested in showcasing a new command, control and communications system that communicates between small boats and carries voice, video and network connectivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTesting on Stiletto was huge for us,\u201d said Wayne Brown, who oversaw the Savox demonstration on Stiletto. \u201cStilleto is recognized in the maritime industry and an outstanding test bed and if you have your project being demonstrated here, it means you have advanced technology.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tests were conducted under the watchful eye of multiple agencies who liked what they saw, but questioned whether the wireless commuications could be encrypted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Savox \u201cwent away for a few weeks and came back, having added encryption to their product,\u201d Denko said. \u201cIt\u2019s that kind of feedback coming directly from possible end users that makes for a good back and forth \u2014 that\u2019s what we provide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Have a project, product or technology you want demonstrated on Stiletto?<\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Send an email to Stiletto@navy.mil with the basics of your what you\u2019d like to demonstrate. <\/i><i>It gets reviewed by the boat\u2019s crew and project managers for feasibility and, if approved there, is sent up to DoD\u2019s Common Maritime Technology Working Group for a review. <\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arguably the coolest looking boat in the military, the M80 Stiletto is actually a technology test bed than can showcase the best new technology to potential military end users.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":69697,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_yoast_wpseo_meta-robots-noindex":"","_yoast_wpseo_meta-robots-nofollow":"","_yoast_wpseo_canonical":"","_acf":"","_yoast_wpseo_primary_category":93,"_jetpack_feature_clip_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","_smg_distribution_targets":[]},"categories":[29,93],"tags":[],"coauthors":[3242],"class_list":["post-35118","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-digital-show-dailies","category-navy-league"],"acf":{"subheadline":"","legacy_arc_id":"OZCCZABGM5C7XAVAY47M5QOT3E","arc_canonical_url":"\/news\/your-navy\/2018\/04\/09\/test-your-tech-on-the-militarys-coolest-boat\/","remove_feature_photo":false,"is_sponsored":false,"subtype":"","redirect_url":"","disable_inline_ads":false,"native_logo_pretext":"Presented By:"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.0 (Yoast SEO v28.1) -
