The system is intended to be highly reliable and independent of GPS, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/electronic-warfare\/2018\/06\/04\/whats-the-frequency-putin-5-questions-about-russias-ew-capability\/\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">which can be jammed<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Safran ED presented its Geonyx system to the Direction G\u00e9n\u00e9rale de l\u2019Armement procurement office and the French Army\u2019s Stat equipment assessment department on May 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/digital-show-dailies\/eurosatory\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">Track our full coverage of Eurosatory here!<\/a><\/b><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Geonyx could be fitted as a replacement of the Safran Sigma 30, which is fitted on the Nexter Caesar 155mm artillery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The resonance technology in the new INS range is \u201cextremely disruptive,\u201d the executive said. The Geonyx is smaller, highly reliable and at \u201ca much lower price\u201d than the Sigma 30, he added, however no price details were available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The three Geonyx models \u2015 SP, HP and XP \u2015 offer a rising level of performance, reflecting a range of operational requirements for an army. The systems are intended to be highly robust to withstand shock from artillery fire. An operational life of 10-15 years is expected, the executive said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Geonyx draws on technology developed on its Crystal gyroscope, an advanced hemispherical resonator gyroscope. The resonance technology will be applied to equipment for space, air, land and sea, both civil and military, Safran ED said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Northrop Grumman has developed its HRG system, which can be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c4isrnet.com\/unmanned\/2018\/05\/11\/new-eurodrone-will-rely-on-galileo-satellite-navigation-but-have-gps-just-in-case\/\"
