This decision begins the transition to this more capable and reliable helicopter to fulfill the Air Force\u2019s mission to leave no one behind,\u201d said Col. Dale White, the Air Force\u2019s program executive officer for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and special operations forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The HH-60W derivative <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/digital-show-dailies\/air-warfare-symposium\/2017\/02\/28\/as-expected-sikorsky-to-offer-black-hawk-for-huey-replacement-contest\/?utm_source=clavis\" target=_blank>of the Black Hawk<\/a> boasts better defensive systems than the HH-60G Pave Hawk currently used for combat rescue missions. The \u201cWhiskey\u201d model also includes a new fuel system that nearly doubles the capacity of the internal tank, as well as improvements to hover performance, avionics and weapons, Sikorsky stated in a news release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Air Force plans to buy 113 HH-60W aircraft. Five helicopters are in production at Sikorsky\u2019s facility in Stratford, Connecticut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After a first flight in May, the four previously built test aircraft had undergone evaluations at the company\u2019s flight center in West Palm Beach, Florida, which the Air Force used to assess the aircraft\u2019s performance and load-carrying
