The first B-250 plane was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/digital-show-dailies\/dubai-air-show\/\" target=_blank>unveiled at Dubai Airshow<\/a> 2017 and has since been shown at IDEX this past February and the 2018 Bahrain International Airshow.<\/p>\n\n\n<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link smg-interstitial-link--fallback wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/video\/2017\/12\/04\/the-first-light-attack-aircraft-of-its-kind\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__fallback-link\">The first light-attack aircraft of its kind<\/a><\/aside>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The B-250 is a turboprop plane built for close air support, counter-terrorism activities, training and the collection of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was designed by Brazilian firm Novaer and has an operating cost of about $1,200 per flight hour, according to Calidus. It has an endurance of up to 10 hours and a maximum cruising speed of 350 knots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Military aircraft orders have been light during Dubai Airshow 2019. Aside from Wednesday\u2019s B-250 contract, the UAE announced on Tuesday its intention <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/digital-show-dailies\/dubai-air-show\/2019\/11\/19\/uae-announces-informal-agreement-for-two-more-saab-globaleye-planes\/\" target=_blank>to buy two more GlobalEye airborne early warning and control planes<\/a> from Saab, but final negotiations are still ongoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The United Arab Emirates will operate
