The Pentagon is looking at ways it can fulfill President Donald Trump\u2019s request <\/a>to have the military guard the U.S.-Mexico border, spokesman Dana White said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are a number of ways the Department of Defense is already supporting the [Department of Homeland Security] border security mission,\u201d White said. \u201cWe are still in consultation with the White House about ways we can expand that support.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As it has become apparent that Congress was not going to give Trump the full funding he has requested to build a border wall, the president has looked to the military to fill the gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\t
