Multiple Cabinet secretaries are scheduled to appear on Capitol Hill this week to discuss the president\u2019s fiscal 2021 budget request, but they\u2019re likely to face heated questions on other topics as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defense Secretary Mark Esper<\/a> is set to speak at a House Armed Services Committee hearing on Wednesday. Along with the budget questions, lawmakers are planning on quizzing him about the recently announced cease-fire in Afghanistan, continued U.S. military operations in the Middle East, and the recent firing of the Pentagon\u2019s top policy official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie<\/a> is scheduled to speak before the House Veterans\u2019 Affairs Committee on Thursday. He is also bracing for a host of non-budget questions, including the recent firing of the department\u2019s second-highest ranking official and ongoing concerns about his handling of a sexual assault claim at the Washington, D.C. VA Medical Center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo<\/a> is scheduled to testify Friday, but whether he will appear before the House Foreign Affairs Committee remains in doubt. He skipped out on an earlier testimony request last month, citing travel conflicts. <\/p>\n\n\n\nTuesday, Feb. 25<\/strong>
