Saab&#8217;s CEO H\u00e5kan Buskhe said the company regards all countries in the Southeast Asian sphere as potential customers.<br\/><br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Buskhe has identified the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"> Philippines<\/st1:country-region>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"> Malaysia<\/st1:country-region>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:place w:st=\"on\"> Indonesia<\/st1:place>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">as other potential buyers for the next-generation Gripen figher aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aiding Saab is the Swedish government\u2019s revitalized policy of connecting interstate trade and defense agreements with defense exports. The agreement with<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"> Indonesia<\/st1:country-region>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">, which includes technology transfers and joint research and development, will serve as a model to support and elevate the competitiveness of Swedish defense equipment in Asian markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Asia is becoming an increasingly more important marketplace for<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"> Sweden<\/st1:country-region>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2019s defense companies and exports. Our cooperation agreement with<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"> Indonesia<\/st1:country-region>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">is a step forward to deepen defense cooperation between the two countries,&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"> Swedish<\/st1:country-region>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Defence Minister Peter Hultqvist said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The defense deepening agreement with<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"> Indonesia<\/st1:country-region>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">takes place against a regional backdrop where Saab has opened a new office in the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"> Philippines<\/st1:country-region>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">. The timing of the initiative is significant, as Saab intensifies efforts to sell the JAS-39 Gripen to the Philippine Air Force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The opening of Saab\u2019s office in the<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"> Philippines<\/st1:country-region>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">was preceded by a high-level Swedish trade delegation to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:city w:st=\"on\"> Manila<\/st1:city>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">headed by<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"> Swedish<\/st1:country-region>\n\n\n\n<st1:city w:st=\"on\"> Enterprise<\/st1:city>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">and Innovation Minister Mikael Damberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saab is no stranger to Asian markets. The company supplied 12 Gripen C\/D fighters to<\/p>\n\n\n\n<st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"> Thailand<\/st1:country-region>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">in 2008.
