And we now anticipate closing in the first quarter of 2022,\u201d Taiclet said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/industry\/2020\/12\/20\/lockheed-buys-aerojet-rocketdyne-in-44b-deal\/\" target=\"_blank\">announced the deal late last year<\/a>, it\u2019s seen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/opinion\/commentary\/2021\/02\/24\/the-lockheed-aerojet-deal-hampers-hypersonics\/\" target=\"_blank\">pushback<\/a> because it would allow the country\u2019s largest defense contractor to absorb a key supplier of solid-fuel rocket motors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Waltham, Mass.-based Raytheon Technologies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/congress\/2021\/02\/17\/raytheon-to-challenge-lockheed-aerojet-merger-ceo-says\/\" target=\"_blank\">came out against the <\/a>transaction, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/congress\/2021\/09\/01\/thirteen-us-lawmakers-back-lockheed-aerojet-merger-in-new-letter\/\" target=\"_blank\">congressional sentiment on the deal has been mixed<\/a>. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., asked the Federal Trade Commission to apply deeper scrutiny to the deal and its impact on competition, though a group of 13 lawmakers said they support it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Overall, the company lowered revenue projections by 2.5 percent in 2021 due to plans for fewer F-35 jets, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/newsletters\/breaking-news-alert\/2021\/08\/30\/its-official-the-us-has-no-boots-on-the-ground-in-afghanistan\/\" target=\"_blank\">U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan<\/a> and pandemic-related supply chain problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Company officials said they see growth coming through its share of the Pentagon\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/air\/2021\/08\/04\/after-latest-flight-test-failure-us-air-force-hoping-to-keep-first-hypersonic-missile-on-track-for-production\/\" target=\"_blank\">hypersonic programs<\/a> and potentially some classified work \u2015 as well as existing programs like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/naval\/2021\/06\/25\/navy-awards-sikorsky-879m-contract-for-9-ch-53k-heavy-lift-helicopters\/\" target=\"_blank\">CH-53K King Stallion<\/a> program and the expanding <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/pentagon\/2021\/04\/27\/next-gen-intercontinental-ballistic-missile-interceptor-estimated-to-cost-nearly-18-billion\/\"
