its board of directors on Thursday: former Under Secretary of the U.S. Air Force Lisa Disbrow, and Mary Louise Krakauer, a former executive vice president at Dell.<\/span><br><\/div><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Massachusetts-based Mercury Systems makes processing systems for defense products and, according to its website, is attempting a new business model that eases Department of Defense procurement via rapid adoption of open systems-based architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Disbrow, who retired this year from her position with the Air Force, could offer Mercury Systems insight into how the DoD might view this endeavor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her position as undersecretary, she directed weapons acquisition, strategy and risk management, and she oversaw the Air Force\u2019s annual budget of more than $132 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><div><span>She also recently served as acting secretary of the Air Force when the former secretary stepped down in January.<\/span><br><\/div><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>[<a href=\"http:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/opinion\/2017\/03\/12\/air-force-civilians-are-critically-important-to-our-success\/\">Air Force civilians are critically important to our success<\/a>]<\/i><span><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Krakauer brings expertise from her time as executive vice president and chief information officer at Dell, where she was responsible for the integration and operation aspects of global IT.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President and CEO of Mercury Systems, Mark Aslett,&nbsp;said these women\u2019s respective expertise will be key assets to the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThey have rich histories of providing critical insight and counsel to the U.S. Department of Defense and technology companies,\u201d he said. \u201cWe look forward to benefitting from their extensive expertise as we continue to execute against our growth strategy, both organically and through
