Already we are working through the process of identifying the senior leadership for that company. That company will then take on this operationalized responsibility for the C-390 program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/digital-show-dailies\/dubai-air-show\/\" target=_blank><b>Click here for more from the 2019 Dubai Airshow.<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allen noted that Boeing and Embraer are still waiting on regulatory approvals to set up a joint venture, though a majority of countries with jurisdiction over the process have signed off. Once established, Embraer will have 51 percent ownership of the venture, with Boeing holding the remainder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That paradigm significantly increases Boeing\u2019s involvement in the C-390\u2019s future. Under past partnerships, Boeing would work with Embraer to sell the KC-390 globally based on interest from potential international customers. In contrast, the joint venture will be fully responsible for \u201c100 percent of the sales of the C-390 program,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defensenews.com\/industry\/2018\/08\/03\/embraers-defense-head-talks-growth-areas-for-the-brazilian-giant\/\" target=_blank>Jackson Schneider, president and CEO of Embraer Defense and Security<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/defensenews\/air\/2018\/10\/04\/boeing-embraer-reportedly-in-talks-on-bringing-kc-390-production-to-us\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Aircraft-Farnborough-2018-124.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Boeing, Embraer reportedly in talks to bring KC-390 production to US<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">Such a deal could make the KC-390 a more serious rival to Lockheed Martin&#039;s C-130.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For Boeing, it also fills a gap in its own portfolio, giving the company a platform to market against Lockheed Martin\u2019s C-130.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs this airplane becomes a part of [the] Boeing-Embraer Defense company, it becomes a Boeing airplane, just as it\u2019s also an Embraer airplane,\u201d Allen said. \u201cThat\u2019s a very exciting milestone for us. We don\u2019t have a medium military airlift airplane for cargo transport.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Embraer formerly called its multimission aircraft the KC-390, that name will now be used for a specific variant configured for aerial refueling missions, said Schneider, who did not elaborate on how each variant would be different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boeing-Embraer Defense could also market a commercial version of the C-390 in the future, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe don\u2019t have any plan specifically now,\u201d Schneider said. \u201cLater on, yes, why not? \u2026 I think there are [interested] parties there. I think the customer will be more than delighted to have this kind of plane in use.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The KC-390 has hit several milestones this year. In August, Portugal became the first international customer to commit to the aircraft, inking a contract with Embraer to purchase five KC-390s, a flight simulator and support. A month later, the company delivered the first KC-390 to the Brazilian air force, and a second aircraft is set to be delivered to the service in December, Schneider
