However there is no prioritization for one of the two models at this point, he added.<\/span><br\/> \u00a0<br\/> A military aviation strategy paper published by the German Defense Ministry last week stated <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">a few days ago, \u00a0it is <\/span>\u200bthat the conclusion of a contract is expected for 2018 and helicopter deliveries <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">of the helicopters <\/span>\u200bshould start in 2022. According to the paper, the multirole helicopter should increase the air mobility of the ground forces and contribute to medical evacuation, <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">the so-called AirMedEvac, <\/span>\u200bthe support of special forces and to personnel recovery missions.<br\/> \u00a0<br\/> The Air Force spokesman said he expected <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">for the air force assumes that between <\/span>\u200b40 to 70 helicopters to be procured. <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">So far it is not clear, how the procurement process will be executed.<\/span><br\/> \u00a0<br\/> According to a status report of the Bundeswehr in December, the Air Force had <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">lately <\/span>\u200b75 CH-53s in stock. This number is to be reduced to 64, and <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">aircraft.<\/span>\u200b 40 of these <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">helicopters <\/span>\u200bare being converted to the improved variant GA. <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Originally the <\/span>\u200bGermany <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">forces <\/span>\u200bhad acquired 112 CH-53s starting in the 1970s.<br\/> \u00a0<br\/> The Defense Ministry <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Moreover, the <\/span>\u200bstrategy paper <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">of the Ministry of defence <\/span>\u200bhighlights that a next-generation weapon system (NextGenWS), complementary\u00a0<span class=\"rte rte-comment\"> &#8211; complentary <\/span>\u200bto the Typhoon \u00a0Eurofighter, will be developed as successor to the <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">of the combat aircraft <\/span>\u200bTornado, which is specialized for ground attack. The NextGenWS might be unmanned, manned or optionally manned, the paper states. A more precise definition will be carried out after further analysis.<br\/> \u00a0<br\/> In order to preserve the warfare capabilities of the Luftwaffe, the NextGenWS should enter service no later than when <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">at the latest, when <\/span>\u200bthe Tornado is taken out of operations. According to current planning, the aircraft will fly until the middle of the next decade, but <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">. However, <\/span>\u200ba decision might be made this year about extending <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">whether <\/span>\u200bthe lifetime of the Tornado into <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">can be extended until <\/span>\u200bthe mid-1930s.<br\/> \u00a0<br\/> Also in planning is a <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">Besides the NextGenWS a <\/span>\u200bso-called future combat air system (FCAS), which the <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">is in the planning. <\/span>\u200bministry describes as a &#8220;system-of-systems.&#8221; It should incorporate the capabilities of existing aircraft, such as Eurofighter, Tornado and the combat helicopter Tiger, but also future weapon systems, such as a new medium-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft <span class=\"rte rte-comment\">UAS MALE <\/span>\u200band the NextGenWS.<br\/> \u00a0<br\/> The Defense Ministry intends to define conceptual ideas and operational requirements for an FCAS and a NextGenWS in 2016. These are to serve as a basis for multilateral cooperation and the examination of common requirements and technological feasibility.<br\/> \u00a0<br\/> According to the paper, the realization of the NextGenWS and the FCAS has to be made with partner nations in a European context, because a purely national approach to develop weapon systems of this complexity is deemed impossible. The ministry wants to initiate a dialogue in Europe soon on common objectives, lines of development and options for action.<br\/><br\/>Email: <a
