The first awards on the second set of task orders for the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation (CDM) program were released Friday, several sources confirm, giving the component agencies at the Department of Homeland Security the tools for building an enterprise-wide view of their networks, including breaches and vulnerabilities.
Knowledge Consulting Group was the prime vendor awardee and will be managing a suite of offerings from a set of subs. The full breakdown of awards released Friday was not immediately available.
Friday’s awards, termed task order 2A, covers the component agencies at DHS. Task order 2B — covering Agriculture, Interior, Veterans Affairs, OMB, OPM, Transportation and Energy — is expected in the coming weeks.
The second task order on Phase I included six requests for quotes (RFQs) to build tools, sensors and supply integration services for each of the six groups, encompassing all of the federal government when finished.
“In light of the many security breaches over the past year, CDM is more important than ever and should be a national priority,” said Patrick Flynn, director of homeland and national security for Intel Security, which obtained a sub contract for its McAfee security software. “At McAfee we spent years preparing for CDM and developing new tools to meet the government’s needs … This is a great validation of our Security Connected strategy, which emphasizes situational awareness and integration.”
Phase II of the CDM program will help agencies develop identity, credential and access management (ICAM) tools to better understand who has access to the network and what they are doing while logged on.
