In the roughly three months since I came on board as editor of Federal Times, cybersecurity has dominated our coverage. It’s also dominated our web traffic. It’s also the issue that remains top of mind for all federal agencies, hoping hackers won’t bring down their network, divulge their sensitive data, and land them under the microscope.
So our plan for November makes sense.
That plan, of course, is CyberCon 2015 – a full-day event Nov. 18 hosted by Federal Times, in partnership with sister publication C4ISR & Networks.
I know what you’re thinking – another cyber event? But our goal, as is evident by our agenda and growing speaker lineup, is to take a different approach to what has long been the topic of the day for federal agencies. Sessions and speakers will provide tactical approaches to addressing cybersecurity issues, focusing on collaboration both within government and across public and private sectors. How can agencies leverage commercial best practice? How can they spot security holes before the hackers do? How can they avoid being the victim of the next massive security breach? And how can they improve their cyber posture now, even before legislation dictates their approach?
These are the important lessons we’ll discuss at CyberCon. And those discussions will be led by some of the most important names in federal technology and security. We already have confirmed as a keynote LTG Alan Lynn, director of the Defense Information Systems Agency. Also on board for panel discussions:
- Tony Sager, Senior Vice President and Chief Evangelist for the Center for Internet Security
- Col Gregory T. Breazile of the Marine Corps C2/Cyber & Electronic Warfare Integration Division
- Mary Davie, assistant commissioner of GSA
- LTG Robert Ferrell, Army CIO/G-6
- David DeVries, Principal Deputy CIO, Department of Defense
And there are more, with additional speakers signing on every week.
Questions? Don’t hesitate to ask. We hope to see you there.
