Carl Force, 46, of Baltimore, befriended Ulbricht under the online moniker “Nob,” gaining his trust and offering advice about how to run a criminal organization.
During that time, Force established a second online identity, “French Maid,” which was unknown to his colleagues at the FBI. Force admitted using this identity to trade information on the Silk Road investigation with Ulbricht for an additional $100,000.
Force pleaded guilty in July and was sentenced on Oct. 19 to 78 months in prison follow by three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $340,000 in restitution to the government.
