research from Deloitte has found parts of the federal government that have new tools working together are often more successful than those that assign a single innovative technology to a problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/us\/en\/pages\/public-sector\/articles\/government-tech-trends.html\" target=_blank>report<\/a>, released Feb. 26 by Deloitte Consulting, identified cloud, analytics, digital experience, blockchain, cognitive, digital reality, core modernization, cyber and the business of technology as the central drivers of technological advancement at federal agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/it-networks\/cloud\/2018\/09\/24\/white-house-seeks-a-smarter-cloud-strategy\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">White House seeks a \u2018smarter\u2019 cloud strategy<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">The White House released its update to the 2010 federal Cloud First strategy that looks to help agencies be smarter about cloud decisions.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMany government organizations are finding that each individual advancement in technology \u2014 for example blockchain, digital reality or serverless cloud architecture \u2014 is powerful, but that the real power emerges when they combine,\u201d said Scott Buchholz, principal at Deloitte and chief technology officer for its government and public services practice, in a news release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFinding ways to integrate a constellation of new technologies into a new operational paradigm is the next level challenge that\u2019s unfolding in government right now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In total, the report found eight trends that are most likely to influence government IT in the coming months:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The collision of macro technologies such as cloud and cyber<\/li><li>Integration of artificial intelligence into agency mission and workforce<\/li><li>Increased use of as-a-service cloud capabilities<\/li><li>Enhanced connectivity options that enable employees to access work while in the field<\/li><li>Intelligent interfaces that improve the way people engage with machines and systems<\/li><li>Advanced marketing to improve the customer experience<\/li><li>Reimagining cyber from a compliance exercise to a fundamental component of the design process<\/li><li>Looking beyond digital to an intersection of technology, science and business<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese trends are actively shaping strategic and operational transformations today, redefining IT\u2019s role within government and forcing leaders to reimagine what it means to govern and serve against the backdrop of a global,
