{"id":10348,"date":"2015-04-09T18:44:25","date_gmt":"2015-04-09T18:44:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2015\/04\/09\/federal-it-standouts-kick-off-it-solutions-challenge\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:31:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:31:08","slug":"federal-it-standouts-kick-off-it-solutions-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/it-networks\/2015\/04\/09\/federal-it-standouts-kick-off-it-solutions-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal IT standouts kick off IT Solutions Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CIO Council IT Solutions Challenge kicked off April 8 with IT professionals from across government brought together to identify the major issues facing federal IT and develop effective solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The challenge \u2013 put forward by Federal CIO Tony Scott \u2013 continued on April 9 with a full-day workshop focused on naming the biggest problems in federal IT and breaking into working groups that will stick together over the course of the six-month challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>More: <\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/story\/government\/it\/2015\/03\/06\/cio-challenge-it-solutions\/24511717\/\" title=\"http:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/story\/government\/it\/2015\/03\/06\/cio-challenge-it-solutions\/24511717\/\">New CIO challenges feds to find IT solutions<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Over the course of the Solutions Challenge, participants will engage in a variety of professional development sessions, gain valuable insight from face-to-face meetings with federal leaders and enhance their solutions through mentoring from subject matter experts,&#8221; the CIO Council said in a blog post announcing the start of the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Innovative IT professionals from 19 agencies were nominated to participate in the challenge, intended to take a fresh look at the problems facing IT acquisition and deployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>More: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/cio.gov\/first-annual-it-solutions-challenge-kicks-off-today\/\" title=\"https:\/\/cio.gov\/first-annual-it-solutions-challenge-kicks-off-today\/\">IT Solutions Challenge at a glance<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I value the insight that the entire workforce can provide and am anxious to see what transformative ideas they come up with,&#8221; Scott said when he introduced the Challenge last month. &#8220;These rising stars will bring a new set of eyes to look at the way we do things and the motivation and innovative mindsets to find solutions that \u2014 with the help of IT leaders \u2014 can be implemented to create positive change across the federal government.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The challenge will wrap up in September, when the teams will be asked to present their results. The teams will also be posting monthly updates on their progress through <a href=\"https:\/\/cio.gov\/cioc-blog\/\" title=\"https:\/\/cio.gov\/cioc-blog\/\">the CIO.gov
