{"id":10677,"date":"2016-06-01T15:10:48","date_gmt":"2016-06-01T15:10:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2016\/06\/01\/deloitte-pays-11m-to-settle-false-claims-allegation\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:31:34","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:31:34","slug":"deloitte-pays-11m-to-settle-false-claims-allegation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/federal-oversight\/2016\/06\/01\/deloitte-pays-11m-to-settle-false-claims-allegation\/","title":{"rendered":"Deloitte pays $11M to settle False Claims allegation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the largest federal consulting practices agreed to settle a False Claims Act brought by the General Services Administration for allegations the vendor failed to lower prices on its IT services contracts despite changes in the commercial marketplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deloitte Consulting LLP \u2014\u00a0which holds several contracts on GSA schedules, including IT Schedule 70 \u2014\u00a0was accused of failing to abide by a price reduction clause in its contract that requires vendors to keep the prices they charge federal customers commensurate with pricing for commercial customers, according to the Department of Justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the complaint, between 2006 and 2012, Deloitte overcharged federal customers while offering the same IT services to specific commercial customers at lower rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deloitte agreed to pay $11.4 million to settle the claim. DOJ attorneys note that, with the settlement, there will be no determination of liability or guilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Contractors are expected to deal fairly with federal agencies when receiving taxpayer funds,&#8221; said Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Mizer, head of DOJ&#8217;s Civil Division. &#8220;As this settlement demonstrates, we will take action against those who knowingly fail to live up to the terms of their government contracts.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deloitte also holds <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/us\/en\/pages\/public-sector\/solutions\/gsa-schedules.html\">a number of contracts on other GSA schedules<\/a>, including marketing, finance and human resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We are pleased to have resolved this matter,&#8221; Megan Doern, Deloitte federal media relations manager, told Federal Times. &#8220;As
