He decided to step down on Sept. 30 as he had already stayed on longer than the two years he initially intended, according to a White House official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i><b>CYBERCON 2015: <\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/cybercon.federaltimes.com\/\" title=\"http:\/\/cybercon.federaltimes.com\/\">Want to be a cybersecurity expert? Register now for CyberCon<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before joining the administration, Schwartz established himself as a cybersecurity, privacy and public policy expert, serving as a senior Internet policy adviser at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Commerce Department and as a senior policy analyst at the Center for Effective Government. He also served as vice president and COO at the Center for Democracy and Technology for more than a decade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I have worked with Ari for many years in his various government roles and when he worked with the Center for Democracy and Technology and always found him to be thoughtful and effective in his approach to complex issues,&#8221; said Stuart
