However, she alluded to the crisis in her farewell.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-smg-jwplayer-video\"><atype-video-jwplayer nostick=\"true\" playlisturl=\"https:\/\/cdn.jwplayer.com\/v2\/playlists\/fCzRqMW8?tags=e5bcd50e-321a-426b-87e4-e4b4f789a6ec\" aspectratio=\"16 \/ 9\" mute autostart=\"false\"><\/atype-video-jwplayer><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">After releasing the full scope of the massive OPM hack, Director Katherine Archuleta announced her resignation Friday, less than 24 hours after saying she would be staying on.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I conveyed to the president that I believe it is best for me to step aside and allow new leadership to step in, enabling the agency to move beyond the current challenges and allowing the employees at OPM to continue their important work,&#8221; she wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thursday, while stating that she did not intend to resign, Archuleta also expressed her support for the rest of the staff, including agency CIO Donna Seymour. She reiterated her support for the staff in her email Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>More: <\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/story\/government\/omr\/opm-cyber-report\/2015\/07\/09\/opm-breach-25-million\/29922697\/\" title=\"http:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/story\/government\/omr\/opm-cyber-report\/2015\/07\/09\/opm-breach-25-million\/29922697\/\">OPM breach affected 22 million Americans<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I am honored to have led this organization and to have served alongside the incredible team at OPM,&#8221; Archuleta wrote. &#8220;I have complete confidence in their ability to continue to fulfill OPM&#8217;s important mission of recruiting, retaining and honoring a world-class workforce to serve the American people.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Office of Management and Budget Deputy Director Beth Cobert will be stepping in as acting director until an official replacement is named.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b>OPM Data Breach: <\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/section\/OPM-Cyber-Report\/\" title=\"http:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/section\/OPM-Cyber-Report\/\">What You Need to Know<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The resignation comes after legislators turned up the pressure on Archuleta to step down, including members of her own party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This is the right move for the agency and all those affected by the breach,&#8221; Sen.
