Next month, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) will be merging its top IT offices into a single department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beginning Feb. 15, IT services and the office of the CIO will be combined under a single IT architecture. The new setup is designed to speed adoption of new technologies within the agency and help it meet the mission of providing critical data to the intelligence community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“NGA is at a pivotal crossroads where policy and business processes must move as quickly as IT implementation,” NGA Director Robert Cardillo said. “Executing new missions and leveraging new sources, along with our traditional missions and sources, require us to unify our IT management with IT delivery and sustainment.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Douglas McGovern, the agency’s former chief operating officer and current director of NGA’s research and development branch, InnoVision, will employ his experience in technology and management as head of the new combined IT services department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The current director of IT services, David Bottom, will transition to director of NGA’s leader development program. CIO David White will become the first NGA fellow for the newly established Intelligence and National Security Foundation, part of the non-profit Intelligence and National Security Alliance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
