{"id":12452,"date":"2016-02-17T16:57:39","date_gmt":"2016-02-17T16:57:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2016\/02\/17\/dhs-preps-final-rfp-for-nextgen-security-operations\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:37:37","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:37:37","slug":"dhs-preps-final-rfp-for-nextgen-security-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/management\/2016\/02\/17\/dhs-preps-final-rfp-for-nextgen-security-operations\/","title":{"rendered":"DHS preps final RFP for NextGen security operations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The final request for proposals for a new contract to support the Department of Homeland Security&#8217;s internal security operations will be here in March, according to procurement officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Next Generation Security Operations Center (NextGen SOC) contract will give the DHS CISO access to cybersecurity support services, with a focus on securing the networks at the Office of the CIO, National Protection and Programs Directorate and Science and Technology Directorate, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Download:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbo.gov\/utils\/view?id=e215a537538f37214634514bce732880\">Draft NextGen SOC RFP<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The task orders issued hereunder will be designed to acquire a broad range of services and solutions\u2014under various contract types\u2014to fulfill the department&#8217;s mission&#8221; as it pertains to cybersecurity, according to the synopsis. That mission includes a mandate to &#8220;prevent, detect, contain and eradicate cyber threats through monitoring, intrusion detection and protective security services to DHS information systems.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DHS plans to make a single award for indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity, according to a draft RFP released in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The final contract will have a ceiling of $395 million over seven years, with a base of one year and six additional one-year options. Individual task orders will range from a minimum of $1,000 to a maximum of $10 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Specifically, contractors will asked to offer operational services in nine main support areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Monitoring and analysis;<\/li><li>Digital media analysis;<\/li><li>Cyber intelligence;<\/li><li>Vulnerability assessment;<\/li><li>Penetration testing;<\/li><li>Incident assessment and response;<\/li><li>Insider threat hunting;<\/li><li>Intrusion defense chain; and<\/li><li>Future requirements as they emerge.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The draft RFP includes detailed requirements and deliverables for each of the nine areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The winning vendor will also have to offer program management, architecture, engineering and communications services, which are detailed as separate functional areas in the RFP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While contracting officials did not give an exact date for the final RFP, they said a synopsis of proposed contract action will likely be posted &#8220;within the next few
