{"id":12812,"date":"2020-01-24T19:12:37","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T19:12:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2020\/01\/24\/gsas-procurement-database-is-heading-to-a-new-home\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:38:04","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:38:04","slug":"gsas-procurement-database-is-heading-to-a-new-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/it-networks\/2020\/01\/24\/gsas-procurement-database-is-heading-to-a-new-home\/","title":{"rendered":"GSA\u2019s procurement database is heading to a new home"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The General Service Administration\u2019s procurement database will be migrating to the agency\u2019s new contracting website by the end of the second quarter of fiscal 2020, according to a GSA news release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Federal Procurement Data System\u2013Next Generation (FPDS-NG) reports function, which collects and reports procurement data from federal agencies, will be transitioned over to the new <a href=\"http:\/\/beta.sam.gov\/\" target=_blank>beta.SAM.gov<\/a> website, the new GSA site that lists federal contracts and other contract data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The migration is part of a larger GSA effort to consolidate its legacy websites to a single site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FPDS site serves several purposes for contractors and researchers. On the site, users can research procurement data, validate procurement vehicles and modify transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FDPS is used \u201cheavily,\u201d the GSA release said, for running procurement reports. With the transition over to the new site, users need to take action to ensure they are prepared for the move, the release said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe recommend at this time that you review your current saved FPDS reports and note attributes and filters for reference in case you need to recreate a report using the new ad hoc tool in <a href=\"http:\/\/beta.sam.gov\/\" target=_blank>beta.SAM.gov<\/a> when it becomes available,\u201d the notification from GSA said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, \u201cthose who use FPDS to run administrative, standard, or static reports are not required to take any action at this time or prior to the transition,\u201d GSA officials wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Users\u2019 saved ad hoc reports will be moved over to <a href=\"http:\/\/beta.sam.gov\/\" target=_blank>beta.SAM.gov<\/a> if they are created and run at least once before Jan. 31, 2020. Any created after won\u2019t be converted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis conversion process will take place only once,\u201d GSA officials wrote. \u201cWe expect the process to convert roughly 75 percent of the existing ad hoc reports. But there may be up to 25 percent that do not convert.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Administrative, standard and static reports will continue to operate the same as they do now. Ad hoc reports will work with a new tool called \u201cMicroStrategy\u201d that comes with several improvements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Maximum number of rows will increase from 30,000 to 150,000<\/li><li>Maximum number of years will increase from 5 to 12<\/li><li>More data fields will be available<\/li><li>A \u201cwizard\u201d to help with ad hoc requests<\/li><li>Easier sharing capabilities with others\u2019 ad hoc reports<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Update: This story was updated to clarify that only the FPDS site\u2019s report function is
