services will now officially have a new option to offer agencies for purchase, as CenturyLink announced March 14 that it had become the first provider to receive an authority to operate under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/acquisition\/2018\/07\/17\/how-gsa-recovered-from-its-new-telecom-contract-stumble\/\" target=_blank>Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions contract<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re excited to be the first vendor to receive an ATO on EIS so we can immediately help federal agencies jumpstart their IT modernization plans and use the latest technology to carry out their missions more efficiently,\u201d said David Young, CenturyLink senior vice president, strategic government. \u201cFor example, Administration announced the winners of its next-generation telecom contract, Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS), intended to be the go-to vehicle for agencies \u2014 civilian and defense \u2014 looking for telecom services.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In order for agencies to begin awarding opportunities to companies on the EIS contract, GSA must first issue an ATO for each contractor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The EIS contract is a replacement for the Networx telecommunications contract \u2014 initially set to expire in January 2017 and subsequently extended into 2020 \u2014 and will serve as a one-stop-shop for enterprise infrastructure modernization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Agencies have the option of a three-year extension on their current contracts to aid in the transition period but are expected to release their EIS solicitations by March
