{"id":14905,"date":"2019-10-11T16:13:43","date_gmt":"2019-10-11T16:13:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2019\/10\/11\/the-fbi-needs-its-data-platform-to-support-one-version-of-the-truth\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:40:29","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:40:29","slug":"the-fbi-needs-its-data-platform-to-support-one-version-of-the-truth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/it-networks\/2019\/10\/11\/the-fbi-needs-its-data-platform-to-support-one-version-of-the-truth\/","title":{"rendered":"The FBI needs its data platform to support \u2018one version of the truth\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FBI is seeking information on a cloud-based enterprise data management system, according to an Oct. 10 request for information on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbo.gov\/index.php?s=opportunity&#038;mode=form&#038;id=cc8da013a9ffa2ffabe9917d056cf4ea&#038;tab=core&#038;_cview=0\" target=_blank>FedBizOpps<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FBI\u2019s office of the chief information officer is seeking information about the commercially available data catalog and management platforms, as well as available integration services for use in a classified cloud environment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the FBI\u2019s current environment, the RFI states, personnel searching for records have a difficult time navigating the system, which leads to distribution of \u201cinsufficient, incomplete or out-of-date records or delays.\u201d The FBI is also challenged by the decentralized locations of data, which sits in servers across the country. The FBI\u2019s data is both structured and unstructured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Bureau seeks a single place where users (defined as individual users\/personnel or IT systems) can be confident in the retrieval of current information about data, system capabilities and associated services,\u201d the FBI wrote. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The law enforcement agency\u2019s data is of \u201cmyriad proportions,\u201d requiring a \u201cmultitude of systems\u201d to protect it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Responses to the RFI will be used to identify products and integration services and conduct market research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe FBI requires a solution that can accomplish system-to-system integration of data and data standards,\u201d the RFI states. &#8220;The solution should ensure consistent quality of data across IT environments, with the goal of having \u2018one version of the truth.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The FBI wrote that it needs a system that can automate the search requests, supports collaboration and easily tag and curate data.
