positions to fill, 40 of which require candidates ready to face greater challenges than others, according to the National Academy of Public Administration\u2019s Prune Book 2017.<br\/><br\/> <span class=\"inbox-inbox-s1\">The Prune Book, compiled by the Academy\u2019s Transition Steering Committee and advisory fellowship of political appointees, is intended to outline the experience and qualities needed for the toughest management positions in government.<\/span><br\/><br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Going by book rankings, if you&#8217;re the Office of Management and Budget director, Department of Agriculture deputy secretary, Department of Commerce undersecretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere, NOAA administrator, CIA director or Department of Education office of financial student aid chief operating officer, you<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014\u00a0more than anyone\u00a0\u2014\u00a0need an understanding of how to build more effective, efficient, accountable and transparent organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Broken into five categories \u2014 governmentwide managers; deputy secretaries; natural resources, information and infrastructure; national and homeland security; and health, education and income security programs \u2014 the guidebook is being offered to the new administration to
