Federal inspectors general have launched a new website that will serve as a centralized public library for IG reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Oversight.gov website provides \u201ca \u2018one stop shop\u2019 to follow the ongoing oversight work of all IGs that publicly post reports,\u201d said the announcement from the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency. \u201cIt also enables users to access more than 5,800 previously-issued IG reports, a number that will continue to grow as IGs issue new reports.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The public \u2013 and journalists and non-governmental watchdogs \u2013 will particularly like the website\u2019s search box. For example, the term \u201cwhistleblowers\u201d appears in 781 reports, \u201ccybersecurity\u201d in 446 reports, \u201cdisaster recovery\u201d in 335 and \u201cterrorism\u201d in 292, according to CIGIE. \u201cIn addition, the site features a user-friendly map to find reports based on geographic location and contact information for each IG\u2019s whistleblower hotline.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe public should have easy access to information about their government, and Oversight.gov is a big step in this direction,\u201d said CIGIE head and Department of Justice IG Michael Horowitz. \u201cThis new website makes the work of the IG community more accessible, and it demonstrates the critical role inspectors general play in combating waste, fraud, and abuse, and holding government officials accountable for their management of taxpayer money.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
