John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, and the &#8220;Strengthening State and Local Cyber Crime Fighting Act of 2017.&#8221;<\/span><span class=\"inbox-inbox-apple-converted-space\"> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"inbox-inbox-s1\">Both bills \u2014 which share the same name \u2014 authorize the National Computer Forensics Institute in Hoover, Alabama, which provides law enforcement with techniques and best practices for handling digital forensics evidence. The specialized tools and training would be applied to crimes using digital technology, ranging from hacking to human trafficking, and would be available to agencies from across the country.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"inbox-inbox-s1\">The Senate companion bill was cosponsored by Sens.
