{"id":17346,"date":"2016-04-22T19:26:47","date_gmt":"2016-04-22T19:26:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2016\/04\/22\/gsa-clears-up-confusion-around-alliant-2-rfp\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:48:06","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:48:06","slug":"gsa-clears-up-confusion-around-alliant-2-rfp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/acquisition\/gsa\/2016\/04\/22\/gsa-clears-up-confusion-around-alliant-2-rfp\/","title":{"rendered":"GSA clears up confusion around Alliant 2 RFP"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Industry has been waiting for the General Services Administration to drop the final request for proposals on the Alliant 2 vehicles \u2014\u00a0GSA&#8217;s IT services governmentwide acquisition contracts (GWACs) \u2014\u00a0and hearing little but rumors for months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John Cavadias, procurement contracting officer on Alliant 2, attempts to clear up some misconceptions in <a href=\"https:\/\/interact.gsa.gov\/blog\/interact-questions-46-update-status-official-rfp-release-date-gsa-a2-a2sb-gwacs\">a new blog post on GSA&#8217;s Interact site<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;There has been much speculation in recent months heard from the information technology services industry and seen in the press concerning the official release of the General Services Administration Alliant 2 and Alliant 2 Small Business GWAC Request for Proposals,&#8221; he wrote. &#8220;In an effort to communicate to industry and other interested parties with an acceptable degree of transparency on the status of this pending procurement, I am providing this unofficial announcement to addresses some of those questions.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current Alliant and Alliant Small Business contracts \u2014\u00a0with a combined ceiling of $50 billion \u2014\u00a0are set to expire in 2019. Alliant 2 and Alliant 2SB will follow on with an expected ceiling of $65 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Contractors should take particular note of two of the questions and responses:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Saved the best for last<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cavadias answered what was probably the most anticipated question last: When are the final RFPs expected?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of now there&#8217;s no change in the timeline, he wrote, with both the unrestricted and small business solicitations on track for the second half of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Don&#8217;t get ahead of yourself<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cavadias said vendors have been asking whether to use the draft solicitation templates to start preparing for the final RFPs this summer \u2014\u00a0a bad idea in his assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It is absolutely not recommended,&#8221; he wrote, noting the PCOs &#8220;have frequently cautioned industry that a [draft RFP] is for market research and that the
