{"id":17374,"date":"2016-09-19T17:43:26","date_gmt":"2016-09-19T17:43:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2016\/09\/19\/gsa-facilities-contract-first-awarded-best-in-class-status\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:43:59","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:43:59","slug":"gsa-facilities-contract-first-awarded-best-in-class-status","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/smr\/acquisition-smr\/2016\/09\/19\/gsa-facilities-contract-first-awarded-best-in-class-status\/","title":{"rendered":"GSA facilities contract first awarded best-in-class status"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><span class=\"inbox-inbox-s1\">The U.S. General Services Administration\u2019s building maintenance and operations (BMO) contract has been given a best-in-class designation under new Office of Management and Budget guidance.<\/span><br\/><br\/> <span class=\"inbox-inbox-s1\">BMO is the first governmentwide strategic sourcing vehicle to be awarded this contracting and acquisition designation, according to <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/gsablogs.gsa.gov\/gsablog\/2016\/09\/14\/were-the-best-in-class\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Link: https:\/\/gsablogs.gsa.gov\/gsablog\/2016\/09\/14\/were-the-best-in-class\/\">a Sept. 14 blog post<\/a> by Mary Ruwwe, a regional commissioner and category manager of buildings and maintenance contract.<\/span><span class=\"inbox-inbox-apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><br\/><br\/><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The importance of the designation is to expand appeal and usage of the contract, which is accessible to all federal agencies wanting all-inclusive, complete facilities maintenance or single-service trade work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BMO received its best-in-class denotation by meeting OMB category management performance criteria based around an approach to optimizing high-value acquisition tools through identifying core areas of spending; collectively developing heightened levels of expertise; leveraging shared best practices for requirements and review processes; and providing data-driven pricing, demand and performance management strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The open-market, multiple-award, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract focuses on decreasing cost and contract duplication, tailoring solutions for small businesses, standardizing categories for simplified proposal comparisons, and engaging stakeholders for direct input and participation through requests for information, industry days and online outreach. The initiative is being rolled out zonally, with plans to have coverage for the entire continental U.S. by the end of next fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The
