{"id":18273,"date":"2019-08-27T20:55:27","date_gmt":"2019-08-27T20:55:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2019\/08\/27\/is-one-of-these-plans-a-fix-for-id-verification-problems\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:36:27","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:36:27","slug":"is-one-of-these-plans-a-fix-for-id-verification-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/acquisition\/gsa\/2019\/08\/27\/is-one-of-these-plans-a-fix-for-id-verification-problems\/","title":{"rendered":"Is one of these plans a fix for ID verification problems?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The General Services Administration released its<a href=\"https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/attachments\/USGSA\/2019\/08\/26\/file_attachments\/1273200\/DRAFT%20GSA%20ICAM%20Solutions%20Catalog%208.20.19.pdf\" target=_blank> draft<\/a> document of solutions available for federal agencies to verify the identities of employees Aug. 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GSA\u2019s list of Identity, Credential and Access Management (ICAM) offerings was released in response to a May memo from the Office of Management and Budget that mandated new policy at federal agencies. The directive required GSA to publish \u201ca consolidated catalog of existing ICAM solutions and shared services.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Agencies must develop an agencywide ICAM office, use best-in-class, tier two or shared services contracts to procure the ICAM products. GSA \u2014 along with OPM, DHS and the National Institute of Standards and Technology \u2014 will develop road maps for agencies. GSA will ensure that acquisition options comply with OMB\u2019s ICAM policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The draft catalog includes several solutions listed within GSA\u2019s IT Schedule 70 and 84, both of which are being consolidated under the GSA\u2019s new multiple-award schedules IT consolidation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a Aug. 27 blog post, Bill Zielinski, the assistant commissioner for the Office of Information Technology Category at GSA, said the ICAM policy comes at a \u201ccrucial time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIdentity is now more than just a person; it is a unique representation of a subject and can include devices like cellphones, tablets, TVs, or any network-connected item,\u201d Zielinski wrote. \u201cEnsuring the right people (or device) have the right credentials and access are paramount.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ICAM technology touches files, computer systems, server rooms and even buildings, Zielinski wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The GSA is looking for <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSdpfEBRoO8YuMZCSilv5RQVeKllK_ks6wZf5U0R-Hh_ZoXWQw\/viewform\" target=_blank>feedback <\/a>on the
