{"id":18756,"date":"2018-06-11T21:08:02","date_gmt":"2018-06-11T21:08:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2018\/06\/11\/agencies-encouraged-to-offer-telework-for-caps-parade\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:47:42","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:47:42","slug":"agencies-encouraged-to-offer-telework-for-caps-parade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/management\/2018\/06\/11\/agencies-encouraged-to-offer-telework-for-caps-parade\/","title":{"rendered":"Agencies encouraged to offer telework for Caps parade"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As thousands converge on Washington, D.C., for a June 12 parade celebrating the Capitals hockey team\u2019s recent win of the Stanley Cup, federal agencies are being encouraged to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/management\/2018\/03\/12\/telework-improves-performance-satisfaction-in-government-employees\/\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">let their employees telework <\/a>to avoid the increased traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo help alleviate traffic congestion, agencies may authorize telework or other workplace flexibilities at their discretion. Employees may also request to use their alternative work schedule day off, annual leave, or other authorized time off,\u201d an Office of Personnel Management spokesperson told Federal Times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For those employees that still have to brave the parade frenzy, some may get the chance to celebrate the victory, as the White House is also encouraging agencies located in D.C. to give employees two hours of administrative leave between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to attend the parade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i>Taking OPM up on their offer and want to be featured on Federal Times?
