{"id":20792,"date":"2018-04-09T13:47:58","date_gmt":"2018-04-09T13:47:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2018\/04\/09\/gao-brings-bid-protest-process-online\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:51:46","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:51:46","slug":"gao-brings-bid-protest-process-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/acquisition\/2018\/04\/09\/gao-brings-bid-protest-process-online\/","title":{"rendered":"GAO brings bid protest process online"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Government Accountability Office announced April 5, 2018, that, beginning in May, all companies or organizations wishing to protest a government contract award will have to do so through a new, online <a href=\"https:\/\/epds.gao.gov\/login\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">electronic bid protest docketing system.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis new system modernizes the bid protest process at GAO and will make it a much more efficient process,\u201d said Gene L Dodaro, comptroller general of the United States and head of the GAO, in a news release.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/acquisition\/2017\/07\/28\/drowning-in-protests-can-agencies-stem-the-rising-tide\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/protests_cover.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Drowning in protests: Can agencies stem the rising tide?<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">The rising flood of protests is adding significant time to an already cumbersome procurement process.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Protestors will have to pay a $350 filing fee, which will be used to pay for the operation and maintenance of the EPDS system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Currently, protestors are able to file their documents with GAO through email, fax, hand delivery and standard mail. Over 90 users were able to file electronic protests through an EPDS pilot that began in February 2018, and now all protestors will have to register accounts for the online process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gao.gov\/legal\/bid-protests\/file-a-bid-protest\" title=\"\" class=\"\" target=\"_blank\">GAO website provides instructional videos<\/a> on how to register an account, file a bid protest and submit other requests and documents related to their protests.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Organizations wishing to protest
