{"id":20808,"date":"2019-07-15T20:29:19","date_gmt":"2019-07-15T20:29:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2019\/07\/15\/gsas-policy-office-gets-a-new-deputy\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:51:34","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:51:34","slug":"gsas-policy-office-gets-a-new-deputy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/management\/leadership\/2019\/07\/15\/gsas-policy-office-gets-a-new-deputy\/","title":{"rendered":"GSA gets a new deputy chief of staff"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The former chief of staff for the General Services Administration\u2019s Public Buildings Service has been appointed GSA\u2019s new deputy chief of staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LaFondra Lynch took over July 8, according to a July 15 GSA press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs deputy chief of staff, Lynch supports the GSA administrator and chief of staff in assessing, planning and implementing activities aligned with the agency\u2019s strategic priorities,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lynch has experience with the agency, serving in a number of similar positions prior to her new appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her role as GSA\u2019s PBS chief of staff, Lynch \u201cassisted with the nationwide management of more than 5,300 employees and a nearly $10 million budget.\u201d She was appointed as acting chief of staff for PBS in January 2018 before assuming the official role in April 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to her time in that position, Lynch served as PBS chief of staff in GSA\u2019s Region 4, also known as the Southeast Sunbelt Region. In this role, Lynch provided administrative and financial planning, management and oversight for nine regional programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am grateful for LaFondra\u2019s leadership and ongoing commitment to GSA,\u201d said GSA Administrator Emily Murphy. \u201cLaFondra has done an excellent job as our PBS chief of staff and she brings a strong set of management, organizational and strategic skills to our leadership team. I know she will serve our agency well in her new role as deputy chief of staff.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Robert Borden currently serves as GSA\u2019s chief of staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GSA has been one of the main agency powerhouses for pursuing Trump administrative initiatives, such as the IT <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/it-networks\/2019\/05\/17\/centers-of-excellence-arrives-at-the-federal-personnel-office\/\" target=_blank>Centers of Excellence<\/a> program and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/management\/2019\/04\/26\/white-house-launches-new-shared-services-initiative\/\" target=_blank>promoting shared services<\/a> across the government. Under a disputed reorganization plan, it would also in future <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/management\/2019\/05\/14\/opm-at-greatest-risk-under-the-status-quo-says-director\/\" target=_blank>house many of the federal employee services<\/a> currently run out of the Office of Personnel Management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The chief of staff\u2019s office serves as the primary aide for GSA Administrator Emily Murphy and is responsible for promoting agency policies and mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before joining GSA, Lynch served at the Department of Justice as regional public information officer and in a managerial role as the appropriations officer for the Executive Office for Immigration
