The Office of Personnel Management announced June 25 that it will offer its employees the opportunity to undergo LGBT training to encourage diversity in the federal workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe training provides information to help encourage a welcoming workplace culture for everyone, and helps OPM take full advantage of the skills and talents of all employees,\u201d wrote Sean Hershey, supervisory program analyst at OPM\u2019s Equal Employment Opportunity Office, and Natalie Veeney, diversity program manager at OPM\u2019s Employee Services, in a blog post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cOPM champions diversity in all its forms; not only because we believe in equal opportunity for everyone, but because we know that having diverse backgrounds, opinions and viewpoints enriches OPM\u2019s performance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An OPM spokesperson told Federal Times that the training will be offered in an online format and will largely focus on \u201ccreating a work environment that promotes LGBT inclusion and employee engagement in the workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The training is offered only to OPM employees, as each agency is responsible for its own training program, and whether such training will be provided to other agencies has yet to be determined, according to the OPM spokesperson.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
