{"id":23550,"date":"2021-03-23T14:59:31","date_gmt":"2021-03-23T14:59:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2021\/03\/23\/federal-charity-contributions-remained-flat-for-2020\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:56:31","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:56:31","slug":"federal-charity-contributions-remained-flat-for-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/management\/2021\/03\/23\/federal-charity-contributions-remained-flat-for-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal charity contributions remained flat for 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Federal employees raised nearly $83.6 million in monetary and volunteer donations to the Combined Federal Campaign last year, the Office of Personnel Management announced March 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That number is just below the $86.4 million raised by the campaign in 2019, despite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/management\/2021\/03\/10\/will-the-pandemic-mark-a-turning-point-for-feds-charitable-giving\/\" target=_blank>higher numbers<\/a> from one of the largest regions of the CFC program in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CFC program has been flush with special solicitations in the past year, as OPM approved a special donation period in April 2020 to raise funds for COVID-19 response, which raised $2.5 million, and another in March 2021 for donations to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/management\/2021\/03\/11\/opm-approves-special-giving-period-for-texas-storms\/\" target=_blank>Winter Storm Shirley response<\/a> and recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI want to thank all of the federal, postal, military personnel and retirees who participated in and donated to this cycle\u2019s CFC,\u201d said OPM acting Director Kathleen McGettigan said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe CFC is uniquely positioned to help support those in need, especially during this extremely tough time as we\u2019re still combating COVID-19 worldwide. I am very proud of the hard work that CFC teams at every federal department and agency put in to adjust to fundraising in a virtual environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The CFC\u2019s emphasis in recent years on giving through their online portal proved valuable during the mass telework of the pandemic, as approximately 86 percent of pledges in 2020 were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/management\/2020\/09\/22\/federal-charity-program-embraces-virtual-tools-during-the-pandemic\/\" target=_blank>made through the online system<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In total, CFC has raised $8.5 billion since it\u2019s inception over 50 years
