The system is also supposed to automatically pull in information from the centralized personnel data system and other programs like myFitness, which tracks airmen\u2019s fitness test scores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The service first opened myEval to airmen and guardians in February. By the end of May, all were supposed to have started using it to log performance reviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Problems persisted through the summer, however. MyEval wasn\u2019t properly beta tested ahead of time and was clunky, slow and confusing to navigate. Features that were promised hadn\u2019t materialized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FAFamnncosnco%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02wMiwKDXVGBrkbdQMjdUmE8LwGPpx7NJDHgJWQKGE6zQtLpRPcSzNhvzxefiLezd9l&#038;show_text=true&#038;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"266\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI\u2019ve spent \u2026 countless hours learning the system that has no manuals, vague guidance, never-ending errors, and little to no capacity to support our needs,\u201d someone who claimed to work for the Air Force Personnel Center said Wednesday in an anonymous post on the popular \u201cAir Force amn\/nco\/snco\u201d Facebook page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen you wonder why retention rates are so low, please stop yourselves from going any further,\u201d they continued. \u201cIt\u2019s decisions like this that truly influence the Air Force culture and make individuals choose leaving versus staying.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Senior Air Force leaders pledged in September that an improved \u201cmyEval 2.0\u2033 would replace the first version on Oct. 1. Sgt. Deana Heitzman said Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRight now, [the Air Force\u2019s personnel branch] is working on the IT infrastructure to ensure a successful rollout,\u201d Heitzman said. \u201cThe simplified version will be more user-friendly and intuitive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She declined to answer what the interim version will not offer that the full version would.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Airmen have groused about the complications in online forums and raised the issue to the service\u2019s top enlisted leader and the vice chief of staff in a recent question-and-answer session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One defender on Facebook, Richard Hart, commented that anyone who submitted review records through yet another platform instead \u2014 known as the Case Management System \u2014 would have had them ready on time for the various selection boards that decide who will move onto new opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/airforcetimes\/news\/your-air-force\/2021\/09\/23\/no-decoder-rings-needed-air-force-moving-to-narrative-enlisted-performance-reports\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1000w_q95-1-7.jpg-7.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">No decoder rings needed: Air Force moving to narrative enlisted performance reports<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">The shift is slated for next calendar year, as the Air Force\u2019s enlisted corps reimagines what its talent management system could be.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others have simply thrown up their hands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI have reached the phase of acceptance,\u201d Facebook user Anna Daily commented on the anonymous Facebook post. \u201cI will not struggle with the system. I will wait until someone tells me what they would like me to do. I\u2019ve stressed enough over the last 16.5 years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The issues have stopped the Air Force from implementing other changes to how its members are judged on their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It planned to begin requiring troops to write in full paragraphs on their self-evaluations alongside the myEval 2.0 rollout on Oct. 1. That switch away from bullet-list reviews did take place, while myEval lags behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/airforcetimes\/news\/your-air-force\/2021\/12\/09\/performance-reviews-to-vet-airmens-leadership-skills-starting-in-march\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/1000w_q95-14-2.jpg-2.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">Performance reviews to vet airmen\u2019s leadership skills starting in March<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">The Air Force wants its members to be good at their jobs as well as good people.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So-called \u201cairman leadership qualities\u201d will become the criteria for performance reviews in the same time frame as next year\u2019s myEval 2.0 release, Heitzman said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In February, the Air Force announced it would establish a schedule for conducting job reviews by rank. The new review criteria will take effect for colonels starting in February 2023, and for other officer ranks throughout the year thereafter, and for chief master sergeants in May 2023, with other enlisted ranks to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Airmen online continue to voice similar concerns about other software initiatives like myDecs, myFitness and myLearning.
