But veterans must apply for that program within two years of receiving a disability rating and cannot enroll later on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new Veterans Affairs Life Insurance (VALife) program will eliminate that timeline and sunset the S-DVI program over the next two years. The changes were mandated by Congress in legislation passed last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Veterans will be able to buy up to $40,000 in coverage at \u201ccompetitive\u201d rates, according to Keenaghan.
