Debbie Lesko, a 64-year-old Republican representing the district since 2018, announced in October 2022 that she won\u2019t seek re-election. Her term officially ends in January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chansley pleaded guilty to a felony charge of obstructing an official proceeding in connection with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.militarytimes.com\/news\/your-military\/2021\/01\/11\/how-many-troops-were-involved-in-the-capitol-riot-figuring-that-out-wont-be-easy\/\" target=\"_blank\">Capitol insurrection.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/navytimes\/news\/your-navy\/2021\/01\/12\/qanon-shaman-charged-with-storming-the-capitol-is-a-navy-veteran\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"157\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Jacob-Anthony-Chansley.jpeg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">\u2018QAnon Shaman\u2019 charged with storming the Capitol is a Navy veteran<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">Jacob Anthony Chansley served aboard the Kitty Hawk from 2005 to 2007, according to service records.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was sentenced to 41 months in prison in November 2021 and served about 27 months before being transferred to a Phoenix halfway house in March 2023. Chansely grew up in the greater Phoenix area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chansley is among the more than 700 people who have been sentenced in relation to Capitol riot-related federal crimes. Authorities said Chansley was among the first rioters to enter the Capitol building and he acknowledged using a bullhorn to rouse the mob.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although he previously called himself the \u201cQAnon Shaman,\u201d Chansley has since disavowed the QAnon movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He identified himself as Jacob Angeli-Chansley in the candidate statement of interest paperwork filed with the Arizona Secretary of State\u2019s office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The U.S. Constitution doesn\u2019t prohibit felons from holding federal office. But Arizona law prohibits felons from voting until they have completed their sentence and had their civil rights restored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Emails sent to Chansley and his
