The FBI appointed Christopher Piehota, director of the Terrorist Screening Center, as the next executive assistant director of the Science and Technology Branch. Before being tasked to the Terrorist Screening Center in 2013, Piehota served in top positions at the Counterterrorism Division and Counterintelligence Division, among others. He began his career with the bureau in 1995 investigating terrorism and weapons of mass destruction out of the Newark, New Jersey, offices. In his new role, Piehota will lead some 6,200 special agents, forensic scientists, engineers and intelligence analysts, according to the Science and Technology Branch’s website. The branch was created in 2006 to support the bureau’s mission with the latest technologies available. Piehota will officially take over leadership of the branch in October when the current EAD, Amy Hess, starts her new role as special agent in charge of the Louisville Division.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
