The U.S. Postal Service has two openings in the Office of the Inspector General for tech-savvy auditors to help evaluate IT systems and write reports, but the office isn’t sure if they want to promote from within or bring in fresh faces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USPS posted two openings on USAJobs for two job titles\u2014an Information Technology Analyst, Computer Science Analyst or Auditor\/Audit Evaluator and a similar position for a more qualified specialist. For each, the OIG is looking at the pool of current USPS career employees while simultaneously advertising the openings to the general public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While both jobs are listed twice\u2014for a total of four postings\u2014only one person will be chosen for each position. An OIG spokesman confirmed that both positions would be evaluated and filled independently, meaning the final hires could be any mix of internal or external applicants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

“The candidates will perform a variety of cybersecurity, data analytics and audit duties and reviews of the Postal Service complex computer infrastructure and data to verify that its information resources provide the highest level of security, reliability and value expected by their customers,” both postings read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The basic auditor position is listed with a salary range of $53,400 to $119,800 a year, while the specialist role would expect to make between $108,900 and $141,500 a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both positions would work out of the inspector general’s Office of Audit, part of the IT team based in Arlington, Virginia. Both openings also require applicants be eligible for top-secret clearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the employees will be tasked with writing audit reports, candidates might be asked to take a writing test as part of the interview process. Applicants must also be able to pass a background investigation and maintain a government-issued credit card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
