{"id":9803,"date":"2019-02-07T22:05:12","date_gmt":"2019-02-07T22:05:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/uncategorized\/2019\/02\/07\/opm-draws-on-digital-service-team-for-its-it-leadership\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T04:26:36","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T04:26:36","slug":"opm-draws-on-digital-service-team-for-its-it-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/federaltimes\/management\/leadership\/2019\/02\/07\/opm-draws-on-digital-service-team-for-its-it-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"OPM draws on digital service team for its IT leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Office of Personnel Management is drawing on the federal government\u2019s digital startup team to lead personnel IT policy and procurement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OPM announced Feb. 7 that Clare Martorana and David Nesting, both former U.S. Digital Service employees, would serve as OPM chief information officer and deputy chief information officer, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMs. Martorana and Mr. Nesting bring tremendous digital expertise to OPM,\u201d said acting OPM Director Margaret Weichert in a news release. \u201cI am confident their experience and transformative vision will significantly contribute to our mission to modernize our infrastructure and deliver better services to the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Martorana worked on modernization projects at the Department of Veterans Affairs during her nearly 2.5 years at USDS and takes over from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federaltimes.com\/it-networks\/2017\/10\/03\/new-top-tech-exec-starts-at-opm\/\" target=_blank>David Garcia<\/a>, who leaves OPM after 1.5 years as CIO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cPersonally, I am grateful for Mr. Garcia\u2019s steady hand and commitment to our CIO team and its mission during a time of great change. It has been a pleasure to work alongside him,\u201d said Weichert. \u201cThrough his leadership, OPM has made critical updates and improvements, resulting in stronger, more efficient systems.
