OCEANSIDE, Calif. – Authorities say a Marine suffered serious injuries after the Humvee he was riding in lost control and slammed into a freeway center divider in San Diego County.
California Highway Patrol Officer Jim Bettencourt says the Humvee struck a truck on Interstate 5 near Oceanside Sunday, lost control and veered across traffic lanes before smashing into the divider.
The driver of the Humvee, a fellow Marine, was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
Bettencourt told U-T San Diego that neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the crash. He said both Marines are in their 20s and stationed at Camp Pendleton.
The truck driver was not injured.
