Cook said two U.S. helicopters were dispatched to the scene to provide medical evacuation for the U.S. casualties but could not complete the mission. One was waved off after taking fire and returned safely to its base, he said. The Defense Department does not publicly release the name of fallen troops until 24 hours after their next of kin have been <\/span>notified.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Details about what happened were not immediately available on Tuesday. It is known that an Air Force HH-60 Pave Hawk helicopter was flying a MEDEVAC mission to pick up wounded service members around the time of the incident, Lawhorn said.
