Two of the best-known chroniclers of the post-Sept.\u00a011 wars will meet up this week\u00a0when Maximilian Uriarte\u00a0Maximillian Uriarte<\/span>\u200b, creator of the “Terminal Lance” comic strip, and renowned author Sebastian Junger discuss will speak about <\/span>\u200btheir new books this next week<\/span>\u200b.Uriarte, a Marine veteran, is author of “The White Donkey,” a graphic novel about a Marine’s journey to Iraq and back. who deploy to Iraq and come home.<\/span>\u200b Junger\u2019s latest book,\u00a0“Tribe: On Homecoming and Belonging,” was released last month. He also wrote the book “War” and directed the documentary “Restrepo,” about soldiers fighting in Afghanistan\u2019s infamous Korengal Valley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both will be at a Live Talk on Tuesday<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b in Santa Monica, California.\u00a0The event will take place at 8 p.m. following a reception that starts at<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

“Sebastian, I think, is really the headliner here,” Uriarte told Marine Corps Times on Friday. “I think with both of us there, it\u2019s a really great opportunity for people to get a good look a more serious side of war literature.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uriarte said his publisher wanted to him and Junger to speak about writing about war<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b. Both of the authors\u2019 books look at how veterans battle with post-traumatic stress<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“That was sort of a striving goal for me in making ‘The White Donkey,'” Uriarte said, “to provide a story that gave people insight into what Marines go through.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bevent will mark the first time that Uriarte meets Junger, who could not be reached for comment<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I\u2019m very honored to even be talking on the same stage as him,” Uriarte said. “I\u2019ve heard about him and read about him for as long as I\u2019ve been a Marine. He\u2019s like a legend.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bUriarte is currently developing animation projects while he works<\/p>\n\n\n\n

working<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200b on a new graphic novel that has nothing to do with the military. He said<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bhe has no plans to pen a sequel to “The White Donkey.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You really can\u2019t make a sequel to that book,” he said. “I don\u2019t want it to be like \u2018Jarhead\u00a02′ and [‘Jarhead\u00a03’] \u2013 \u2018Jarhead 5: Jar Jarhead Binks returns.\u2019”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
