Camp Pendleton, California, has officials <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2018\/08\/01\/former-marine-recruit-sues-boot-camp-meat-provider-after-alleged-kidney-failure-epilepsy-from-e-coli-outbreak\/\" target=\"_blank\">taking extra precautions<\/a>, opening a walk-in clinic and asking any personnel with specific symptoms to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marinecorpstimes.com\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2018\/07\/25\/heres-what-had-more-than-100-marine-corps-recruits-sprinting-for-the-head\/\" target=\"_blank\">get screened<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A recent social media posting notified Marines that there had been a \u201cspike in cases of pneumonia\u201d and advised personnel to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2018\/07\/25\/army-looking-into-food-poisoning-outbreak-at-kuwait-base\/\" target=\"_blank\">seek medical attention<\/a> if they had symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, temperature greater than 100.4 F or a cough lasting longer than three days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over a three day period, officials told Marine Corps Times, the SOI-W clinic treated 138 pneumonia cases, far above the average of five to eight cases a day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe majority were treated and released,\u201d Teresa Ovalle with Marine Corps Combat Development Command wrote in an email.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/marinecorpstimes\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2017\/11\/01\/hundreds-of-marine-recruits-sick-at-san-diego-boot-camp\/\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are confident that this issue has been contained and all precautions has been made to mitigate any further spread of this illness,\u201d according to an April 27 SOI-W Facebook post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most infections screened at the clinic were mild, Ovalle wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are working closely with Marine Corps leadership to provide all necessary medical support and our preventive medicine staff are working diligently to determine and eliminate the cause of the current
