{"id":21386,"date":"2012-04-13T19:00:56","date_gmt":"2012-04-13T19:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/marinecorpstimes\/uncategorized\/2012\/04\/13\/fortis-rail-attachment-point-rap\/"},"modified":"2026-08-08T06:10:53","modified_gmt":"2026-08-08T06:10:53","slug":"fortis-rail-attachment-point-rap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/marinecorpstimes\/off-duty\/gearscout\/2012\/04\/13\/fortis-rail-attachment-point-rap\/","title":{"rendered":"Fortis Rail Attachment Point (RAP)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sling mounts are a funny thing, some people like love QD sockets, some hate them.\u00c2\u00a0 Other people feel you can only trust a sling that weaves through a mount, others hate the restriction of not being able to pop the sling off.\u00c2\u00a0 I make no attempt to sway people one way or the other, but a new company named Fortis is taking a familiar spin and going ultra light weight.\u00c2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Fortis Rail Attachment Point (RAP) is a hard coat anodized 6061 aluminum mount which affixes to a standard 1913 rail by way of an allen head screw.\u00c2\u00a0 The entire mount, including the screw and back plate, weighs in at .35 ounces, which makes it the lightest weight QD rail mount I&#8217;ve ever come across.\u00c2\u00a0 We got ahold of several of these, and had no problems mounting them to rails.\u00c2\u00a0 The machining is well done, and all edges are rounded.\u00c2\u00a0 The QD socket itself is anti-rotational, and to test how well the mount held up we locked it to a rail, then stood on the weapon while jerking on the sling.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve seen other QD sockets pop when this is done, but there were no such issues with any of these.\u00c2\u00a0 The Fortis RAP takes up very little rail space, and can mount facing up on down, or side, top, or even bottom rails if you are so inclined.\u00c2<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fortis is a new company and doesn&#8217;t yet have a website, but the RAP is currently available for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weaponoutfitters.com\/tactical-gear\/fortis-rail-attachment-point.html\" target=\"_blank\">$19.95\u00a0 through Weapon Outfitters<\/a> as well as other online vendors.\u00a0 Fortis also offers the mount with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.weaponoutfitters.com\/tactical-gear\/fortis-rail-attachment-point-qd.html\" target=\"_blank\">heavy duty QD swivel, which raises the price to $29.95<\/a>.\u00a0 The Fortis RAP is made in the USA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">[nggallery id=544]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sling mounts are a funny thing, some people like love QD sockets, some hate them.\u00c2\u00a0 Other people feel you can only&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":46969,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_yoast_wpseo_meta-robots-noindex":"","_yoast_wpseo_meta-robots-nofollow":"","_yoast_wpseo_canonical":"","_acf":"","_yoast_wpseo_primary_category":71,"_jetpack_feature_clip_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","_smg_distribution_targets":[]},"categories":[71,13],"tags":[],"coauthors":[1817],"class_list":["post-21386","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-gearscout","category-off-duty"],"acf":{"subheadline":"","legacy_arc_id":"LLMIZEAPWFHJXPJOUMNARZPRCM","arc_canonical_url":"\/off-duty\/gearscout\/2012\/04\/13\/fortis-rail-attachment-point-rap\/","remove_feature_photo":false,"is_sponsored":false,"subtype":"","redirect_url":"","disable_inline_ads":false,"native_logo_pretext":"Presented By:"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v26.0 (Yoast SEO v28.1) -
