In previous administrative messages the Marine Corps made it clear that Marines who refused to get vaccinated or receive an exemption would be separated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A provision in the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act recently passed by Congress requires service members discharged for vaccine refusal to receive either an honorable or general discharge.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<aside class=\"smg-interstitial-link wp-block-smg-interstitial-link\">\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/marinecorpstimes\/news\/your-marine-corps\/2021\/12\/16\/103-marines-already-separated-for-refusing-covid-19-vaccine\/\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__inner\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__media\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"163\" src=\"https:\/\/one.sightlinemg.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/6523091.jpg.jpg?w=300\" class=\"smg-interstitial-link__image wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" \/>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"smg-interstitial-link__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span class=\"smg-interstitial-link__kicker\">Related<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"smg-interstitial-link__title\">103 Marines already separated for refusing COVID-19 vaccine<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"smg-interstitial-link__excerpt\">Currently 95% of the active duty Marine Corps is partially or fully vaccinated.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/aside>\n\t\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So far, the Marine Corps has approved 1,026 exemptions, according to a statement by Capt. Andrew Wood, a headquarters Marine Corps spokesman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All the exemptions granted by the Marine Corps have been either administrative or medical, Wood said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cTo date, there have been 3,192 requests for religious accommodation concerning the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. At this time, 3,080 have been processed and zero requests have been approved,\u201d Wood said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Marine Corps has no records of granting any religious exemptions to Marines in the past 10 years, Marine Corps Times previously reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A total of 95% of the active duty force has been fully or partially vaccinated, according to the statement, making the Corps the least vaccinated force in the Department of Defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airforcetimes.com\/news\/your-air-force\/2021\/12\/03\/over-23500-airmen-and-guardians-say-no-to-covid-vaccines-as-final-deadline-passes\/\">Air Force and Space Force<\/a> had 96% of forces meet its Nov. 2 deadline, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/news\/your-navy\/2021\/12\/01\/navy-announces-weekly-covid-19-testing-for-most-unvaccinated-sailors\/\">Navy reported that 96.3<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.navytimes.com\/news\/your-navy\/2021\/12\/01\/navy-announces-weekly-covid-19-testing-for-most-unvaccinated-sailors\/\">%<\/a> of active duty sailors were fully vaccinated and the active duty <a href=\"https:\/\/www.armytimes.com\/news\/your-army\/2021\/12\/16\/army-vax-deadline-2-battalion-commanders-relieved-discharges-begin-january-98-comply\/\" target=\"_blank\">Army reported that 98% <\/a>of its active duty force was fully vaccinated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the 95% vaccination rate holds, the Marine Corps may
